The London Film Festival in 2009 featured 191 feature films and 113 short films from nearly 50 countries. George Cloony had three of the major films showing including “Fantastic Mr. Fox”, “The Men Who Stare at Goats” and “Up in the Air”. Other films at the festival included Cannes winner “The White Ribbon”, the French prison movie “A Prophet”, Jane Campion’s “Bright Star”, Steven Soderbergh’s “The Informant”, “Taking Woodstock” by Ang Lee, “A Serious Man” by Ethan Coen, “The Boys Are Back” with Clive Owen, “Chloe” starring Julianne Moore and Liam Neeson, arms trade satire “MICMACS”, biopic of a young John Lennon “Nowhere Boy”, “The Road” starring Viggo Mortensen, “Toy Story 2″ in 3D, “Underground” a reissuing of a film from 1920, “An Education” by Lone Scherfig, “No One Knows About Persian Cats”, “Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire”, “Samson & Delilah” and “The Time That Remains”.
Stars that attended the screenings included George Cloony, Meryl Streep, Bill Murray, Julianne Moore and Emma Thompson. 2009 was also the year the festival first gave out a best picture award and the award went to the previously mentioned French movie “A Prophet”.Want to know more?
