The film Ivul (pronounced like “evil”) focuses on a moment in the life of a dysfunctional family. Often times uneasy and sometimes difficult to watch, the film explores the nature and both advantages and disadvantages of carnal restraint as it follows the tale of a boy named Alex. In the film, Alex has been thrown out of his home after perceived inappropriate behavior with regards to his sister and he takes to the trees and the roof of his home as he watches the family crumble from the safety of the trees.

Unless you get your movie channels from places like satelliteTV-HQ.com, then chances are you missed this one. Be that as it may, one can’t help but feel a strange sense of surrealism in the film. Elements of human nature and our own savage potential blend together in what could arguably be described as a modern day Tarzan story, and in some instances we are left questioning who the real monsters are as the line between man and animal is constantly being blurred.

If you like films that make you think and are in no way squeamish when it comes to the often heavy handed portrayal of abuse and dysfunctional families then you will get a charge out of this piece. Everyone else might want to steer clear.

Movies are filmed and created all over the world, when creating a film location is key. One of the many places movies are filmed is Switzerland, with the exception of strictly Swedish movies, over 30 films that have been shown worldwide have been filmed in Switzerland.

Some of the more famous movies known to people around the world that were filmed in Switzerland are titles such as; The Bourne Identity, Frankenstein, The Golden Compass, The Informant!, Star Wars Episode 3, Revenge of the Sith, and Syriana.I was looking for more information and found it here. These movies star, international superstars and big name actors. Most of these movies did well in the box offices and some even won Awards for their performance in them. The upcoming movie ‘Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ was filmed and set in Switzerland. Many US made movies choose over the seas locations for filming due to the scenery other countries offer and the privacy the United States doesn’t allow. Countries in Europe are where the most films are made year after year, three of the James Bond movies, Goldeneye, Goldfinger and A View to a Kill, were also filmed in Switzerland.

Movies are not always made famous because of the location they are shot in but the people who are in them. It is good to know where places are filmed so you can visit the places of your favorite movies.

The French film, ‘Ivul,’ directed by Andrew Kotting, is somewhat of a strange, but unique movie. There is no doubt that the 2009 film is somewhat baffling while offering a blend about families and how hurt feelings can lead to great tragedy.

The film takes place in a manor situated in an extensive woodland area in France. Ivul, played by Jean-Luc Bideau, is a rich, cantankerous Franco-Russian patriarch. His younger wife, Marie (Aurelia Petit) is somewhat taken aback with the personality and behavior of her husband. Together they have four children: two in their late teens and two youngsters. The eldest, Alex, portrayed by Jacob Auzanneau, leads the family on an unlikely, unexpected venture that will them to a tragedy.

Ivul treats Alex with less than a fatherly respect. The condition worsens when the old man finds Alex in a compromising position with his eldest sister. After the father discovers the unacceptable sexual situation he all but condemns his eldest son. However, Alex has become obsessed with his sister and the discovery leads him to shame. He then vows to never step foot on the ground, or in the house, ever again. He begins climbing the never-ending forest of tress and refuses to touch the ground. His sister and mother beg the boy to return to the family. The audience will be shocked, while fully engrossed, with the tragedy the family will face.

The film, ‘Ivul’ is loosely based on the director, Andrew Kotting’s, own childhood. The setting centers around a large, manor house in France. It is owned by Ivul, played by Jean-Luc Bideau. Ivul is an old, angry Franco-Russian patriarch. The rich Ivul is married to Marie, a younger woman, portrayed by Aurelia Petit. Together they have four children: Alex (Jacob Auzanneau); Freya (Adelaide Leroux); Capucine (Capucine Aubriot); and Manon (Manon Aubriot). The first two are in their late teens; the other two are young children.

Ivul is demanding and testy with Alex. The tension becomes more severe when the young man becomes sexually obsessed with his sister, Freya. Ivul eventually finds them in an erotic position and explodes with anger causing Alex to become hurt and humiliated. The elder son then climbs atop the roof stating he will never return to the home. He sticks to his threat and climbs through the network of trees on the property. He lives roughly climbing from one branch to another. He climbs into bins to find his food and sleeps in awkward positions. Still, he never allows his feet to touch the ground.

Ivul carries on his life refusing to make the first move to reconcile with his son. The young man’s mother and sister continually roam the wooded area begging Alex to return. However, the situation only becomes worse and leads to a family tragedy.What-s 1 more click?
